The Sustainable Agriculture Student Association (SASA)
The SASA is a student-led organization that works to promote sustainable agriculture, consumer
outreach and education, and improvement of current agricultural practices. Membership is open to
students (current and past), faculty, and their spouses/partners. The association
maintains affiliations with the Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture, Practical Farmers of Iowa,
the Land Institute, and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
SASA Officers
The association officers are responsible for scheduling and conducting meetings and the administration of the
SASA and serve as liaisons to other on-campus and off-campus organizations.

SASA Representatives to GPSA Committees
Student representatives are elected annually to serve on GPSA committees These representatives
act as advocates for student interests, participating in policy discussions and voting on key issues
affecting the curriculum and administration of the program.

GPSS Senator
The Graduate and Professional Student Senate (GPSS) represents the interests of graduate students before
the university administration and on university committees. All graduate programs may elect at least
one senator to represent the specific interests of that program.
