Research Interests:
Current research includes the role of social capital in rural US
communities, the impact of confinement animal feeding operations on
natural, human, social, cultural, and financial capitals, and research
on self-sufficiency wages and the working poor in rural Iowa. Dr. Flora also is
active in an exchange program with the National Agrarian University-La Molina
(UNALM)in Peru, which also has a graduate program in sustainable agriculture.
