GPSA Faculty Member Receives Sociology Teaching Award
Betty Wells, professor in the ISU Department of Sociology and GPSA faculty member, has been named the 2012 recipient of the Bogardus Teaching Award. The award is made by the ISU chapter of Alpha Kappa Delta, a national honor society in the discipline of sociology. The honor is bestowed annually upon a sociology faculty member whom students believe is most deserving based on the criteria of creativity in teaching and high standards of scholarship. 
2012 GPSA Symposium Retrospective
The 2012 GPSA Research Symposium on 11 April included a celebration of the program's 10th anniversary, a keynote research lecture, and poster displays of student and faculty research. The GPSA was the first and remains the only graduate program in the US to offer both the MS
and PhD degrees in sustainable agriculture. While competing pro-grams have arisen in agroecology and
organic agriculture, the GPSA remains the only grad program that allows students to
pursue a true interdisciplinary curriculum that includes the biological, social, and economic elements of
sustainability.
